Cafe, Writing & Anxiety

There is something about me you should know: no creative writing comes out of me when I’m anxious. But here’s another fact: when I write about my feelings, I start feeling better—at least a bit.

I’m sitting in Blue Tokai. I have ordered flat white coffee, and I really love the way they draw that heart on top of the coffee. It gives me a vibe of being in the world of Pinterest. Aesthetic, sweet, and delightful to the heart. My readers, who’ve been following me for a while, know that cafes are my writing sanctuary. I don’t know if it’s the ambience, the pretty faces around, or the taste of the coffee that helps me write better. Can be one of these or all.

Today, a lady was reading a book in the cafe. We exchanged a smile or two. She looked really friendly. Maybe it was the comfort of her smiles or just knowing she was a bit older and wouldn’t think I was hitting on her, that made me approach her. I asked if she’d like to read a sample of the book I’m working on and give me honest review.

She happily obliged.

The best part? She pointed out a few things that could really make the opening of my book better and genuinely appreciated my work. “There is a hook to the opening.” She said. Hearing it delighted my heart. Yay! At least I know my book is going well and has a strong opening with a hook.

Sometimes, external validation really matters.

Anyway, I am sitting in the cafe with my legs are shaking. Anxiety does that to me at times. Went through strong anxious moments while writing Silk and Petals and the same is happening with me while writing this one.

But in the end, it will be worth it. It was for Silk and Petals.

– Also, if you have read till the end. This is the signal from the universe for you to order Silk and Petals. Do read for a beautiful journey through the lands of love and desires.
